In Praise of Children
In all honesty, I must say that children are the humanly form of god on earth. Their greatness basically lies in their innocence and transparency. Some might argue that the virtues of honesty and selflessness are lacking in them. But that is what makes them children. Their unbiased vision of the world, straightforwardness and God-like purity makes them all the more beautiful. Children have a unique style statement. Fashion to them is glittery, eye-catching outfits. They want to look beautiful and catch the attention of one and all. Children are more idealistic and less realistic. They strive for perfection, as they are not endowed by the practicalities of adults. A child's sense of vision and judgment is not influenced by his preferences, gains, motives and preconceived notions. A child gets what he wants; he lives in a fantasy mode twenty-four hours a day. As this child slowly grows into an adult he unravels the bitter realities of life. Probably that is what is called "growing up". A child may not be able to distinguish what is good or bad but he can definitely figure out what is cruel and inhuman; things that grown ups are sometimes indifferent to. Children have simple ways of giving an outlet to their emotions. The contours on their face depict their joy and sorrow, hopes and desires, dreams and distresses. Unlike adults they don't have double standards or polished etiquettes. They simply say what they feel. That is one thing we can learn from them. It won't be wrong to say that children translate their feelings into words effortlessly and honestly. Children are vulnerable and easy to fool. They are docile and fragile. One has to handle them with care and caution. You can't be too generous and you shouldn't be too strict. You must set them free. Overprotection will hinder their growth. At the same time you must keep an eye on them, to guide them when they lose their way. It’s stirring to note that children do have stress. It seems like a crazy notion but it is true. Stammering in children is a manifestation of their stress. It is wrong to maintain that stress is a burden carried solely by adults. They might be full of exuberance at the surface but underneath that children have their own concerns and worries, primarily consisting of their homework and peer group pressures. Worries are worries whatever they may relate to. It is exhilarating as well as staggering to note that children do have crushes that are sometimes even more intense than grown ups. Kids have their own love fantasies and partners though they are quite innocent in the sex aspect. To sum up children are cute, complex, stunning and full of surprises.
