Expat's Experience of a Sunrise in Ajijic, Mexico
It was so quiet early this morning. No more fireworks for a change. "Las Manitas" is faintly heard from a nearby house--a lovely song that Mexicans serenade their loved ones with on birthdays or anniversaries. It is quiet not only because it is early but because there are no more fireworks. The festivals honoring San Andres, patron saint of the village, and Our Lady of Guadalupe, patron of Mexico, have just ended. Before that were the processions throughout the month of October for Our Lady of the Rosary followed by parades of all the local schools for the anniversary of the Mexican Revolution.
My eyes kept filling with tears as I recalled the psalms praising him and thanking him for this gift. And for our time in Mexico coming to an end today as we leave for the states at noon.
