Presentations are a way of life in organizations. It starts from Day 1 – from the introductory orientation to subsequent training programs and also through various day-to-day activities. PowerPoint is the most popular medium for business presentations.
How to provide more impactful training using PowerPoint
Training tasks can be made simpler by using PowerPoint effectively. Here are some handy tips from www.24point0.com to make impactful training presentations.
Avoid fancy trimmings so focus is not diverted from the main subject of the training. Use simple slide formats, legible text fonts, soft background colors and dark font colors. Supportive illustrations will certainly create effective and comprehensible slides.
The main objective of the training program – what the viewers should learn, should be clearly conveyed.
The topic of the training presentation should determine the slide layout and template. The layout could be chosen depending on the content of the slides – lots of text, text with diagram, text with graphs, pictures, etc. Light and fun presentations could have colorful templates and two-toned templates for more serious presentations.
The content on each slide should be minimal to avoid information overload and dozing off by the audience. Do not read out the text on the slide, provide short bulleted points. Maintain a logical flow and organized structure to the overall training.
Avoid using slides and slides of text but liven up your presentation with illustrations, charts, or tables that further explain the key point. A simple graph would be better to explain growth or market shares rather than just plain text. Use as many pictures, diagrams and graphs as audiences show more interest in visual presentations rather than text presentations.
Include short video clips and demos to elaborate a point, in training. PowerPoint allows the option to insert media clips into the slide, so that the clip can be part of the presentation. You could also include the URLs of web pages that you want to use in the training presentation. These two features would allow you to provide demo training using an in-house software or web page.
