Paris! The very mention of this word gets any die hard romantic in a tizzy! It is the city of romance for one and all. Now who does not like to don a pair of rose tinted sunglasses, sip on hot chocolate or an espresso and watch the world go by at an open air cafe in a dreamy state? Or gaze at the shimmering waters of the Seine by night, as an illumined boat glides gracefully through it. Just catching a waft in the breeze of the aroma of freshly baked croissants, macaroons and pralines from a nearby patisserie or watching the many hues of a breathtaking sunset from atop the Eiffel tower can make your heart miss a beat. Such is the magic of this enchanting city! Or how does a romantic walk, along the river Seine together with your beloved sound? For the nature lover, maybe sitting in one of Paris’s many parks will do the trick. And the famous monuments and museums that dot the city in clusters can make any art connoisseurs head spin in absolute amazement.

No matter who you are or what your mood is, Paris makes every soul sing in delight at its sheer ability to enthral one and all. Simply by setting foot in this city of lights for a day will make you a thorough romantic, if you are not one already! Spring is the best time to visit this exotic city. Now lets order some chilled champagne, wear a lovely straw hat, put on our most comfortable walking shoes (or flip flops for that vacation feel!) and plunge into Paris, a seductive city like the deep sea with its countless hidden treasures!

PARIS BY FOOT
Strolling and wandering about the city of romance is one of the most romantic ways in which one can soak in the very throb of Paris. The city is best enjoyed by foot. If you have just one day in Paris, you can still cover the entire radius of the city in record time, replete with gazing and lazing! The following are a few suggestions to make your romantic walk through this city a truly mesmerizing experience.

  • A walk down the Champs Elysees (pronounced dreamily as “shon-zay-lizay”), the famous boulevard that starts from the Arc de Triomphe and heads towards the historic square called Place de la Concorde. You will cover many shops and cafes along the way. From kiosks selling crepes to high end boutiques and cinemas and theatres, this place has many things that a tourist can do. You may also stroll along the trees and flowers of the garden of Champs Elysees. The Grand Palais and The Petit Palais, both architectural marvels and famous museums also fall on the way. When you reach the Place de la Concorde, you are welcomed by charming fountains and a breath taking view of the Eiffel tower. Setting your eyes on the gates of the Tuileries Gardens, a marvellous structure, will captivate your heart. The garden is a haven for nature lovers full of flora and fauna and many fountains.

  • A stroll about the famous Louvre Museum, a medieval chateau and palace of kings in the past, is a great way to enjoy some of the best works of art the world has. It houses the famed Mona Lisa painting by Leonardo da Vinci and countless other treasures. It would take you several days to cover the entire museum (if you are an art enthusiast!), but with some prior planning you can absorb only what you want in a short span of time. The glass dome in the site, just in front of the Tuileries Gardens, is a modern architectural wonder.

  • Luxembourg Gardens is an ideal place for a romantic leisure walk and sojourn. From fountains to ponds and food kiosks to open air cafes, this lavishly spread park has many public facilities. You can also go on a pony ride or use the tennis courts. And if that does not impress you, then the puppet show will surely win you over. The vast stretches of open air grass, winding path ways and an assortment of sculpture makes this a truly romantic place to unwind.

  • Nothing can of course beat a walk along the Seine River, an ethereal experience if ever there was one! It offers the most astonishing scenic landscape Paris has. Shaded by trees the banks have many famous bridges, Pont Neuf being one of the oldest. Pont de la Concorde and Pont de Sully offer some of the finest views of Paris. The most romantic promenade in Paris is a great place to picnic and you can seal it with a kiss at sunset over one of those romantic bridges!

  • Visiting the Notre Dame will transport you to the world of Gothic art, sculpture and stained glass. Walking inside and around this cathedral is free of cost. Apart from being the most famous monument in Paris, it is also an active Catholic church. The surrealism of its interiors is best experienced in person. You can climb the towers to see the stone gargoyles and witness a fabulous view of Paris.

  • The legendry left bank district, The Latin Quarters, can be enjoyed during the late afternoon. Its many narrow by lanes are soaked with art and culture together with many cafes, restaurants and book stores. Famous for the precinct of Sorbonne, a branch of the University of Paris, where students meet and fall in love over café crème and croissants. For a night out there are many basement night clubs and for that added pizzazz, there are belly dancers too!

  • The Eiffel tower, the most prominent landmark of Paris is best enjoyed at sunset. You can stroll through the garden of Champ de Mars which stretches from the tower on the river side. The reflection of the Eiffel on the Seine is a sight for sore eyes. Nothing compares to the view of Paris at night from the second level of this spectacular building. You finally understand why Paris is called the City of Lights! There are restaurants and a souvenir shop. But the best memory you will carry home is the astonishing light display of the Eiffel, when enjoyed lying on the grass in the Champ de Mars garden.

PARIS BOAT RIDES
For that quintessential experience of being in the most romantic city, a boat ride on the Seine can be a tantalizing way to observe its many wonders. The most spectacular sceneries of Paris are best observed on the many Seine river cruises. Looking at Paris from a boat is a feast for the eyes and as good as engaging in art viewing; only the canvas is a never ending parade of picturesque quays, monuments and architecture. With the wind on your face and the sun beams dancing on the water together with the great monuments of Paris drifting by, the river cruise will remain in your memory for a long time to come.

There are many other ways to go about Paris like the metro, the open air buses and even bicycles. What is experienced at all times without a doubt is an extraordinary city’s hypnotic and myriad charms. One step and you are in paradise!
