All About Google Page Rank
So, who doesn’t know Google? Even those who sparingly use the Internet must have used Google at least once. But how many of us know how this amazingly successful search engine works? It all started with the collaboration of two bright minds - Larry Page and Sergey Brin. In 1998, they started a project in Stanford University related to a search engine that they had developed which eventually came to be known as Google. Along with this, they also developed a system through which they could rank the pages available on the Internet for a filtered search that was named as Page Rank. Page Rank is basically a link analysis algorithm that has been based on citation analysis. This analysis essentially gives a set of hyperlinked documents where they are given a weightage that represents their popularity and their importance on the Internet. This algorithm and the linkage analysis have been patented and they are quite unique. This system works on a sharing basis, as when one website having a higher rank is linked to another one, then that site will also have a comparatively higher ranking. These linkages are called back links that transfer users to your site from various other websites. The higher the back links on your site, higher will be your Page Rank. Google has also developed a toolbar that gives the Page Rank of the website that you are visiting. All you have to do is install it in your browser and you are ready to go. You can check the Page Rank of a website and can get associated with it to get better ranking. In addition to the Google Page Rank there is Search Engine Results Page Rank, or SERP Rank. Through this system, rank of a website is calculated in accordance to its SEO ranking. Every time a keyword related to your website is entered into the search engine, the rank it has on the SEO basis decides the overall Page Rank. You can use all the search engine optimization techniques to get higher ranking. Creating quality content in such a way that it suits the search engines, using relevant keywords, updating content regularly are some of the basic things you can take care of. Having a high Page Rank is of prime importance these days as there are millions and billions of websites on the internet floating around and if you are not listed in the first page of the search results for a particular search, the likeness of you ever being seen is miniscule. It will be as good as you not existing. So to achieve high ranking there are certain steps that one can follow, one of them and the most important one being is the back links. The more the merrier. Join forums Submit your site to search engine directories: Write and publish articles: Add an e-zine or newsletter to your site: So if you have a website, or if you are planning to have one, then don’t wait, because now even you can get placed on the very first page of Google search results.
