Have boisterous children and need to channel that energy? Why not try Gerry Martin’s camps for kids between 9 and 16? Gerry offers a structured introduction to Nature and the wilderness for city bred kids. They learn survival tips and enjoy a hands-on experience with Nature. Get in touch with them to give your Tarzans some real grounding in jungle life. You could also get your children closer to Nature with Kaushik Bajibab’s children’s expeditions. Explore Wishbone and choose from short courses like the Young Naturalist to the week-long expeditions. These courses are available all-year round.

Kids jumping off sofas and window sills – even dancing on the dining table? Have them practice their tumbling skills at Leena Mogre’s Fitness – from preschool children right up to college students. You can also enroll them in cheerleading classes here in varying age groups. Dance classes are of various types and you can get your children into any one of the several Shiamak Davar classes around. Try Shona D’sa ballet classes or even those of Yana Lewis. Her parent-toddler classes help you keep fit and bond with your child. Choose from one of many.
Always worried that your child’s interest in any activity does not last long? Well then, try enrolling them at places where they have a multitude of short-term courses to choose from. Step into Doodle Den in Richmond Town, Enthukids in Sadashivnagar, The Imaginarium on Koramangala Ring Road, or Active Canvas in Jayanagar. There are multiple outlets of other places such as Genie Kids, Kara 4 Kids, Buddhi and the like. Finding one close to you will be easy.
You can choose from a range of children’s courses for all age groups – pottery, dance, theatre, fitness, language skills, ikebana, photography, story-telling, water-sports, sculpture, wood working and more. Some of these organizations also offer courses for parents and children together to further bonding. Kids are allowed to take afternoon naps at some of these places – a great convenience for many parents.
You can plan a fun day for toddlers at one of the many Fun Corners at Garuda Mall on Magrath Road, Forum Mall and Oasis Center in Koramangala or Esteem Mall, Hebbal. There are several other outlets at various malls across Bangalore.
We often forget those who are physically challenged. Thanks to several good-hearted souls Rajajinagar has a park meant especially for disabled children. Ramps at the main entrance, wheelchair tracks, merry-go-rounds, swings and slides with wheelchair access and high protective walls ensure safety. Kalairani also has some workshops on theater exercises for physically and mentally challenged children.
A tip on selecting the right one from the myriad children’s courses available would be to choose something that furthers an already existing interest. This ensures that your child is well occupied and your money well spent.
