When you think of Hawaii, what comes to mind…?Sea, sandy beaches, surfing, girls wearing straw skirts and performing the traditional hula dance, swaying to the soothing music of the Hawaiian guitar, cocktails, parties and basically a fun-filled vacation time. But Hawaii, the youngest of all the states of the US, has much more to offer than just that.

This paradise is around 2000 miles away from any civilization, tucked away in a quiet corner of the turquoise blue Pacific Ocean. It sure is a little difficult on the pocket to get there, but once you reach, it’s definitely money well spent.

Hawaii is basically made up of six islands— Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Maui, and the last one known popularly as Hawaii’s Big Island. All these islands are basically the exposed peaks of an undersea mountain range called the Hawaiian-Emperor seamount chain.

Getting There and Accommodation
You can take one of the many flights operating from the US and other countries to Honolulu or Oahu. Once there, you a take connecting flight to the other islands, which would take less than an hour. Once you reach the island of your choice, you can choose from luxury resorts, charming boutiques, bed and breakfasts and rental condos. Do rent a car to explore further.

When to go…
Hawaii is an all-year round destination offering marvelous weather. If you want to hit the beaches for a little sun bathing, then plan your trip in summer between April and November when the climate is warm and dry. Winter, between December and March could prove to be far too cool, but the blowing trade winds keep things comfortable.

What to do…
Hawaii is one destination where you can find a mix of many cultures, be it Asian, American or European. It is one of the most-visited places in the world; however, strangely enough, you will not find yourself surrounded by tourists.

There is plenty to do at the many islands of Hawaii. For the adventurers amongst you, Kauai is the ideal place…Kayaking on the Wailua River, snorkelling on Poipu Beach, hiking the trails of Kokee State Park or zip lining above Kauai’s lush valleys. Explore the island’s many mountains, valleys, cliffs tropical rainforests, rivers and waterfalls. To get a glimpse of Hawaii’s untouched beaches, visit the island of Molokai. Home to the highest sea cliffs in the world and Hawaii’s biggest white sand beach, this is another place for the outdoor freaks.

To witness the seamless fusion of the modern and the traditional, head to the Oahu island… swim in the turquoise waters at the Kailua beach or feast your eyes on the metropolitan skyscrapers of Honolulu— the place offers something for everyone. Another island offering the same kind of diversity is the island of Lanai. On the one hand, you will find luxurious resorts with golf courses and on the other, you can experience bouncing off the rugged back-roads. Lanai is the most serene of all the islands. If you do not want to be disturbed, then this is the place for you… away from the hustle bustle of it all.

Maui or the magical isle is the place to see waterfalls, breathtaking scenery and awe-inspiring sights. You have got to see it to believe it. Twice as big as the other islands of Hawaii, the big island is home to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, the snow-capped Maunakea, green rainforests of the Hamakua Coast and the jet-black sands of Punaluu Beach.

Hawaii as a destination offers something for everyone… be it a quiet romantic honeymoon getaway or a thrilling adventurous holiday spot or a chance to explore the natural beauty of Mother Earth… Aloha!
