How to Bring up a Good
Human Being?

Being a parent is the most wonderful gift by God. As soon as you get the good news that you are going to become a parent, the first thought that troubles one and all is ‘Will I be a good parent?’ The answer to this question lies with you. There are no set rules that one can follow in this field, you have to listen to your heart and combine that voice with the judgment from your mind and do what you feel is best for you and your child.

There are few points that are very simple but sometimes in the nitty-gritty’s of our busy life we forget or tend to ignore them. You must never forget that your most important duty is that you have to help your child to become a good human being. Children are like soft clay, they can be moulded into whatever form you want. Always tell him when he is misbehaving and never forget to encourage him when he does something good. Few words of encouragement can have a very deep impact on his young, innocent mind and he would remember to do things that will earn him your appreciation. In the same manner when you discourage him or tell him that he is wrong, he would try not to repeat it. Another important point to remember here is that children have very fragile ego, so never scold the child in front of his friends or strangers. You must try to tell him about his mistakes when you are alone with him. Try to tell him why he was wrong instead of just passing a judgement that he has committed a mistake.

Golden rule for being a good parent is ‘Spend time with your child.’ A common mistake that most parents do is that they allow the child to watch a lot of TV and then complain that they are not performing well in their studies. You need to spend some quality time with your child to teach him what is right for him and what is not. Not only that, you need to develop a healthy relationship with him so that he knows you are always there for him whenever he needs. Play with him and indulge in something constructive and creative rather than sitting and watching TV. Help him develop some good hobby and help him in his studies.

Keep these minor points in your mind and apply them whenever required. You will no longer have to be doubtful about your parenting skills. And don’t forget that even you were a child once; so don’t be too strict with them. Let them enjoy their childhood and at the same time you can enjoy their growing up too.
