Italy and Florence
Need an editable PowerPoint map of Italy Italy: The Country of Everybody's DreamsWhether you are looking for spectacular landscapes, romantic getaways, Renaissance art, medieval architecture, panoramic beaches or skiing in the Alps, Italy has it all. And while you are indulging in your heart’s desires, you also get a taste of the marvelous authentic Italian cuisine, the ebullient Italian culture and of course, an unforgettable shopping experience at the designer warehouses lining almost every street. Besides the renowned cities of Rome, Florence, Venice, Pompeii, Milan and Naples, there are charming Medieval towns, such as San Gimignano in Tuscany, and unspoilt fishing villages, like Positano on the Amalfi coast. Italy is also home to another country, the Vatican City, one of the holiest cities in the world. No matter how much you savor the Italian experience, you are never quite satisfied that you have seen it all. It is almost impossible to leave Italy without a desire lurking in your heart - an aching desire to return. Florence: Back to the PastFirenze (Florence), the birthplace of the Renaissance, is a vibrant and breathtakingly beautiful city of statues, sculptures, paintings, museums, churches, old world architecture and palaces. As soon as you set foot in Florence, you will be captivated by its festive and lively atmosphere. You can actually feel the spirit of Da Vinci, Medici, Michelangelo and Dante flowing through the city. After you are done with photographing the colossal Duomo from all its angles (that can take a long time), you will be led by the gushing crowds into the Piazza della Signoria, a square that houses magnificent pieces of art including Donatello’s David, the Fountain of Neptune (often frowned upon by Florentines) and a life-size copy of Michelangelo’s David (You can see the original at the Galleria Dell’Accademia, Florence). A must-see is the Galleria Uffizi that houses countless sculptures and paintings from the Pre-Renaissance and the Renaissance era, one of the most notable paintings being Boticelli’s Birth of Venus. If you don’t let the crowds waiting in line outside dampen your enthusiasm, you will be amply rewarded with sights of spell-binding paintings and other works of art. There are lots of other galleries, monuments and museums in this city, which is a reminder of the past but lives only in the present. The food in Florence is a gourmet’s delight. Tiny cafeterias exuding a warm and welcoming atmosphere line the streets of Florence interspersed with designer outlets, making this city a shopper’s paradise. And who can resist the gelato (ice cream in Florence) that comes in all possible colors and flavors. Though Florence can be a day-trip from Rome, you should stay here for more than a couple of days to fully savor all this gorgeous city has to offer.
