WonderLa in Bangalore - The New Weekend Destination
Need an editable PowerPoint map of India
Bangalore, the IT hub of India and the world, is home to a young, migrant populace - more than 60% of its population is below 25. There are not many sources of entertainment for this youth, other than the numerous malls and movie theatres where they hang out. WonderLa, a recently opened amusement park on the outskirts of Bangalore, is a welcome addition to the city’s recreation spots. WonderLa is situated about 28 km from Bangalore on the Bangalore-Mysore highway. Advertisement hoardings at regular intervals on the highway guide you to the place where a huge arch on the highway welcomes you. A further 2 km drive into the village brings you to the main entrance of the park. There is ample space for parking. There is no parking fee.
The first thing that hits you as you enter the place is the cleanliness. The park is very well maintained and is spic and span – something that you generally do not associate with public places in India. The tickets are moderately priced and cover all the rides. There are more than 50 rides, divided into two sections (dry rides and water rides), that one can choose from, ranging from some very sedate rides to some really terrifying ones. Apart from some high thrill rides, there are musical fountains, laser shows, virtual reality theatre and many more attractions. There are a number of rides for the kids too. The Aqua kingdom too is great fun and the water is clean and sparkling blue. There are numerous water rides one can choose from. If you are in the mood for some thrills, you can take in rides like the Water Pendulum, Banded Kraits or the Twisters. Or if you are in a more sedate mood, opt for the Lazy River or the Wave Pool. One can make use of the changing rooms before getting into the water. The changing rooms are spacious and lockers are available in two sizes at very modest rates. They even have sample lockers displayed at the booking counter to help you make up your mind, which is really very thoughtful. There are also stores for buying clothes if you forget to bring along your pajamas. WonderLa also boasts of some pretty good restaurants and food kiosks with cuisines to suit different tastes. There is a restaurant that serves South Indian fare, a pure vegetarian restaurant and three multi cuisine restaurants. The food is good and is moderately priced – a welcome respite from the astronomical prices one has to fork out at similar establishments elsewhere. There are also a number of shops selling souvenirs that you can buy from for you to remember your visit by. WonderLa is a great place to let your hair down and enjoy. It is the perfect place to spend your weekend with friends and family – your kids will love it as much as you! However, there are a few tips and pointers you should keep in mind to make your experience really memorable.
