We are living in an era where the prowess of an individual is defined by the competitive edge he has. As they say that this generation is experiencing the ‘survival of the fittest’ and its throes in one of its crudest forms. You need not fret as the employers these days across the globe are in fact looking forth a skill-set that makes for a complete professional. These are the qualities that are not innate by default rather they are inculcated in self by undergoing a time-bound process, thereby enabling you to be a forerunner in the global workforce.

1) Communication Skill: The language you speak and how fluently you speak the same is the first indicator of your capabilities. English is the internationally accepted language as far as verbal communication is concerned, and if it’s about displaying your panache, absolute command over the language and its grammatical intricacies is a must on the very outset of it.

2) Accountability: This is an attribute expected in every professional for lackadaisical attitude on your part garners muck not only for the individual concerned, but also for the organization he’s a part of. Accountability is directly proportional to your professional commitment and seriousness exhibited towards work.

3) Etiquettes: ‘Please, Sorry and Thank you’, we were apprised of the importance of these three magical words way back in school. When it’s about business etiquettes, the periphery is much larger for eyes are fixed on every overture of yours. So, be it conducting yourself at a routine meeting, giving the presentation in front of peers and superiors, making your juniors understand the nitty-gritty of a project, sending/receiving a mail; one should be careful not to offend anyone through usage of harsh or unwarranted words.

4) Ethics: Botching it up rather unintentionally and doing the same with sinister motives in mind are two different aspects that must be borne clearly in mind. Probity is undoubtedly a virtue that should be adhered to more stringently when you are holding a position of authority and responsibility. You won’t fudge it all up unless and until you want to land up with an ‘Enron-like’ fate!

5) Awareness: Enclosing yourself in a cocoon can be lethal, especially in a milieu where change is a phenomenon that registers its presence with every passing nanosecond. Therefore, it’s very essential for an individual to be aware of what’s all construing around the world and have a perspective about events that are sending ripples across the globe.

6) Adaptability to Change: A successful human being is one who not only senses the upcoming change but also gears up to face it to the best of his ability. An entire swarm drooling over their typewriters was challenged by those who were well-versed with the PC, the crucial contention being that you should be flexible enough to assimilate those changes that enhance you as an individual.

7) Value of Time: Reputation is built in a particular arena when deadlines are met in a regular manner. One-hour means sixty minutes of utmost value, not only at your front but also for the one who has stakes placed at your accomplishment, yes! You got that right, the client!

8) Academic Proficiency: One has to make sure that he goes for that discipline which is in sync with the demands of the industry. Vocational courses and technical disciplines always give one a vantage point over others.

9) Innovation: Progressive-minded are those who dare to go beyond their comfort zones. If you have whiff of a hint what could be the next ‘it’ thing ready to take everyone by a storm, you would be the raison d’être of a model of perfection and someone whose presence would be a valued advantage to the company.

10) Vision: Only a man who has a vision can aim of arriving at the horizon as the most successful being. Vision need to be both short-term as well as long-term, for the blend of both of these has the riparian effect coming forth in the form of bright hues on the canvass.

These are some of the intrinsic qualities that make for a global workforce contributing into making the organization, a name to reckon with. Above all, there is no magical potion for emerging as the hub of workforce that is trusted by all and sundry, for at the crux of this, its unflinching commitment and passion, the aura of which makes an individual rise above the ordinary.
