Biography of Joe Nichols
Joe Nichols Joe Edward Nichols is a well-known country music singer and songwriter. Five years ago, he took the country by storm with the popular debut single, "The Impossible". Since then, Nichols has been on non-stop tours with artists like Alan Jackson, Brooks and Dunn and Toby Keith. He has been releasing hit after hit, including seven top ten singles and three No. 1’s. Nichols is now well known as one of radio's most unforgettable and familiar voices. Joe Nichols was born and raised in Rogers, Arkansas. Like his father who played bass guitar in a local country band, Joe began his career in a local rock band. After a while, he took up a job as a country disc jockey. Joe Nichols made his debut at the age of 20 in 1996, with his first single having an independent Intersound label. His first album was titled “1996's Joe Nichols.” In spite of the successful lead-off single, "Six of One, Half a Dozen of the Other,” Joe Nichols was dropped from Intersound's label as the album did not do well. Nichols landed a recording contract with Universal South Records in 1999 with the help of a Nashville session guitarist, Brent Rowan. He released his second album in 2002, titled “Man with a Memory.” Its lead-off single, "The Impossible", became a Top Ten hit on the Billboard Hot Country Singles and was declared the tenth most-played country song of 2003. At this time, his first album was again released under the title “Six of One, Half a Dozen of the Other.” “Man with a Memory” helped Nichols achieve three Grammy Award nominations and the Top New Male Vocalist award from the Academy of Country Music. His first Number One hit on the Billboard country charts in 2003 was the single “Brokenheartsville". The singles "Cool to Be a Fool" and "She Only Smokes When She Drinks" reached the Top 20 charts. For the most part of 2004, Joe Nichols went touring with Alan Jackson. In the same year, he released his second album called “Revelation.” Its singles "What's a Guy Gotta Do" and "If Nobody Believed in You" became Top Ten hits. His album, “A Traditional Christmas” was released in late 2004 and was an instant hit with its four tracks entering country charts. Nichols' fourth album was titled III. He achieved his second Billboard Number One hit with the single, "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off". He received gold certifications from the RIAA for both the single and the album. The singles "I'll Wait for You" and "Size Matters (Someday)" from III became Top Ten hits. Joe Nichols released his album titled “Real Things,” in mid-2007. The single, "Another Side of You", reached Top 20 on the country music charts. The single "It Ain't No Crime," is reaching the Top 30 on the music charts within two weeks of its release. Joe Nichols met Anna Nicole Smith in 2005 at the Grand Ole Opry and she instantly became his fan. He performed two songs "I'll Wait for You" and "Wings of a Dove" at her funeral service. Joe Nichols was married to Heather Singleton in Savannah, Georgia on September 9, 2007. They had known each other since they were 18 years old. Within one month of marriage, Nichols checked into a rehabilitation program for substance abuse. Discography: Real Things – 2007
