Tips on Creative Writing
|
When you write, make sure your mind is free of all worldly worries. It is very important for a good writer to be relaxed. Do not force yourself to write, instead motivate yourself to write.
Do your groundwork properly before you start writing. Read books, newspapers, browse the net and gather as much information possible. Do not do a CUT –COPY –PASTE, as it won’t help you become a creative writer. Understand your subject properly and then let your creativity take charge. Sometimes even talking to people about topics you want to write on, helps to gain a lot of knowledge and understanding about the subject.
Do not compromise on quality. Quality always wins over quantity; so do not beat around the bush just to fill up pages. As long as the point is made clear and you have conveyed what you wanted to convey to the readers, there is no need for you to continue writing. This will only make your write-up repetitive and monotonous. Its always better that you adopt the KISS method i.e. Keep it Short and Simple though it depends on the subject you are writing.
When you write about real life situations make sure that you give examples and case studies and that these are realistic, even if fictitious.
Discipline is one thing that is very important in every aspect of life. You need to discipline yourself even when you are writing. Writing does not mean writing anything and every thing. Remember, people of all age groups will read what you write and what they read DOES influence them. It is important that while writing, you unleash your creativity, but do not unleash it to an extent that you sound biased and your tone and words target the sentiments of those who read it.
Once your article is ready, go through it and make sure that what you have written is relevant to the topic and makes sense. Also do a spelling and grammar check and ensure that the language used is not too technical or difficult to comprehend.
Always try to innovate while writing so that the readers can’t stop asking for more from you as a writer. Get to know the pulse of the readers and then let your creativity flow.
Remember, there is always room for improvement, so if today you are an amateur writer, you never know that tomorrow you might win the BOOKER PRIZE! So don’t give up and stop writing. Unleash your creativity and pen across the page.
