The year 2007 was no doubt great for technology buffs. With technology growth at its highest so far, we consumers got a bounty in terms of products both suiting our needs and expectations. Be it automobiles or computers or home appliances, just name it and it was presented with an extra sugar coating.

In the automobiles market we saw some amazing vehicles like Chevrolet spark, Honda Civic, Hyundai i10, Mahindra - Renault logan, Maruti Suzuki SX4, Nissan Teana, Volkswagen Passat, BMW 3 series, Piaggio Ape Truk and, last but not the least, Tata cars. The two-wheeler market with vehicle launches from Bajaj, Honda and Yamaha kept the market on move.

Similarly, in the computers and hardware market we saw world leaders like Toshiba, HP, Sony and Lenovo plunging in to the game while HCL, Zenith and Acer were already in with relatively low prices. We also witnessed the launch of exciting application software like Windows Vista and Google applications. The mobile phone market had a gala time with almost everyone showing off a mobile phone made mainly by Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, LG, Sony Ericsson and Apple, who made phones more affordable than ever. To take a look at consumer electronics intended for entertainment as well as infotainment, we had Philips, Sony, Videocon, LG, Samsung, Kenstar, Nintendo and a whole lot of others readily available.

To pick the best from this lot is definitely a difficult task. Keeping a close eye on the products that caught the fancy of the Indian consumer in 2007, the list is as follows.

1. Windows Vista
Microsoft's Windows Vista proved to be the most significant product release in the software development market in the year 2007. The new and amazing interface of Vista along with its extreme security and enhanced search options made it a “must have” for future-oriented developers and tech geeks.

2. Nintendo Wii
This ultimate gaming console promised a lot with its non-couch breaking technology. Nintendo Wii integrates gaming with virtual experience. Wii and its Nunchuk or the Wii controller ensures that you not only sit on the couch and push a button to enjoy the game rather you can be a part of its action, with your body gestures.

3. Google Apps
To lead the future of office applications, Google has launched its Google Apps. It includes a word processor, spreadsheet, e-mail, calendar and chat program and runs entirely from Internet. Easy-to-install and easy-to-use Google Apps ensures an effortless collaboration with millions of users over the net.

4. Nokia N81
Nokia’s N-series has brought some amazing phones so far. Its slider-style N81 boasts of a 2.4-inch QVGA display and is loaded with an 8 GB memory, quad-band EDGE and 2100MHz HSDPA. It also supports the latest technology in WiFi and Bluetooth. Along with video player and recorder, this Symbian S60 device comes with FM and side-mounted dual stereo speakers.

5. RIM BlackBerry Curve 8310
Even though Apple’s iPhone might be the phone of the year, BlackBerry Curve 8310 would definitely be the most appreciated Smartphone of the year. It is a strict business phone with Blackberry functionalities ensures all your emails and corporate data easy at hand. 6. HP Compaq dc7800 Ultra Slim Desktop PC

9. Hyundai i10

10. Hero Honda CBZ X-Treme
The larger portion of the population of India rides on two wheelers and the one bike that made riders go crazy over it was Hero Honda CBZ X-Treme. This extremely curvy bike sports a new look with an eye-catching fuel tank, flush alloy lids, stepped seats and five-spoke alloy rims in matt black. It comes with puncture resistant tubes and attractive side panels.
