Weekend Getaways from Bangalore-Parkfield Resotel
Bangalore has its share of home stays, farm holidays and resorts which are popular with the hip and happening crowd. A nice place for a day trip is Parkfield Resotel at Hoskote.
What’s good about the place?
Accessibility - Located at Hoskote, which is the upcoming suburb of Bangalore, Parkfield is just off the main highway to Kolar. The road to the resort is not pot holed or unpaved and that is a relief considering that all of Bangalore is in dug up! Just 30 kms from Bangalore, it is a manageable distance for a day trip. It is closer to residents of Whitefield. Surroundings - This is the best part of this place. If you are a nature lover then the natural green and open space will appeal to you. There are lots of trees and a nice kitchen garden to explore. The vegetable and fruit orchard has lots of vegetables and fruit shrubs and trees like ginger, amla, jackfruit, lemon, ladyfinger, cabbage, chilli, coconut, baby corn, millet and so on). There is a six hole putting green for golf enthusiasts.
Suitable for groups - Apparently, Parkfield is a popular place for events, workshops, conferences and team building activities for corporate firms and even school children. The open spaces, swimming pool and play area for children and inhouse facilities and services make it perfect for large gatherings. Facilities - Its USP is the large open greens where activities can be planned for large groups. There is a swimming pool, swings for kids, putting zone for golfers, a football field, tennis court, an ayurveda unit and so on. The place also has a full fledged bar and restaurant. The idea is to provide facilities and services to companies to host their meets and conferences. The not so exciting part The entrance lobby is neat and inviting. The staff is polite and ready to help. The rooms are a disappointment. They are small, some what dingy due to poor lighting, cracks and wall paint peeling off. The design is poor to say the least with small triangular balconies attached to rooms, which have little aesthetic or functional relevance. The place is not yet suitable for a unit family or even a small group of 5-6 persons. The staff is not trained to provide personalized service. As a result they find it difficult to handle the needs of smaller groups or families with kids.
Plan for your visit The place is not a hotel, so it is advisable to make your requests beforehand to see that service and facility is available to you. It is best to carry your own entertainment if you plan to spend the night here. There are minor irritants like no seating/chairs around the pool, poor hygiene in wash rooms, spicy food and such. In case you are interested in getting an ayurveda treatment, make a reservation well in time and women must ensure that female staff is available at the centre. Do make a check prior to your reservation and even after your arrival so that you are not disappointed. Parkfield Resotel is popular for conferences and group events. It’s a nice place for a large family’s day out. Keep it an an all day affair. They offer Sunday brunch and several other customized offers for families and groups. Service levels, cleanliness standards and entertainment options need to be spruced up. Since it is under development, it should improve and emerge as a popular weekend destination for families, senior corporate managers and expats.
An interesting place that needs freshening up! Travel Tips Carry your medicine and first aid kit, especially for insect bites, allergies, scratches & bruises. Tariffs Room tariffs range from Rs 5000-9000 per night based on room type and package.
