Six Reasons for the Success of The Da Vinci Code
The Da Vinci Code written by author Dan Brown was one of the most controversial and successful books of the decade. It told the story of a simple man brought on a quest for one of history’s most celebrated artefacts. Its success is not really a mystery and can be boiled down to these points: 1.It is filled with facts that everyone can benefit from and everyone can have fun with. Dan Brown is one of the most thorough authors that you could ever find. All of his books are so well researched that it rarely leaves a margin for error. 2. It has a very gripping plot. The plot of the book is concise, well laid out and has wide appeal for conspiracy theorists and thrill seekers. 3. The characters are well-crafted and have depth. People can relate to them and share their pain. It engulfs them further in the story and captivates their imagination. 4. All the works of art, locations and historical references are said to be factual. The point about the historical references is debatable, but you have to admit that Brown has a flair for conspiracy and a heel of a talent to spin a story around existing variables and one heck of a story at that. 5. The adrenaline pumping action and suspense rarely lets up, takes hold of you by the scruff of your neck and never lets go. 6. The last reason is fairly obvious. The Catholic Church made much ado about nothing and only fuelled the sales of the novel. Everyone wanted to know what all the fuss was about. Even though some hardcore Christian fanatics went about on a protesting tirade and discouraged other Christians to read the book, there were still enough of people left to buy the book and make it a bestseller. I think Mr. Brown has the Church to thank for that one.
