The stories can be similar in many ways, but the way they are written does make a lot of difference. So, why do we go for a particular author in a particular genre? Well yes, it’s the framework of the story, the particular writing style and creativity that makes the author popular amongst readers. It is not hard to put your thoughts and creativity on paper, but, how you put them on a paper is the most significant thing. Some of the all-time bestselling authors have been able to connect with readers across the world and have created a mark for themselves. Be it horror, romance, mystery, science fiction, thriller or literature, you would find one admired name in each genre that sells the most. Dean Koontz Dean Ray Koontz writes suspense thrillers which include horror, mystery and science fiction. He was born in 1945 in Evertt, Pennsylvania and has written more than 20 books. Most of them have been on the New York Bestselling list which makes him one of the bestselling authors of America. His books show his unique talent for writing thrillers. He puts his heart and soul into his writing, making each page full of excitement and suspense. John Grisham John Grisham is quite famous amongst the readers who like to read “Legal Thrillers”. He is an American Author born in 1955, who became a successful writer with some of his best-selling books having sold over 250 million copies worldwide. Before getting into writing, he was a successful politician and lawyer. He has written fiction as well as non-fiction; however, there are many books that you can see in the fiction category that have topped the charts. Some of them are The Testament, The Rainmaker, The Summons and The Firm. His latest Release, Theodore Boone has had great reviews too. J K Rowling J K (Joanne Kathleen) Rowling’s writings are very famous amongst young readers. A British author who created the Harry Potter series, she has won multiple awards and world-wide recognition with 400 million copies sold worldwide. Jodi Picoult Jodi Lynn Picoult is an American author who has written around 20 novels. She was born in 1966. She has had interest in writing since her childhood and came up with a story when she was only five years old. She debuted with Nineteen Minutes which became the #1 on the New York Times Bestseller list and in 2008, she came up with Change of Heart which again acquired the 1st position on the NYT Bestselling List. Khaled Hosseini Khaled Hosseini born in Kabul debuted as a novelist in 2003 with an international bestseller called “The Kite Runner”. His second novel, ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’ was again a bestselling novel with more than 700,000 copies sold worldwide. Ken Follet Ken Follet, a British author born in 1949 is famous for his thrillers and historical novels; he has sold over 100 million copies worldwide. He started his career as an author with the book Eye of the Needle in 1978 which won the Edgar Award. Some of his other best-selling thrillers include The Key to Rebecca, The Man From St Petersburg, Triple and Lie down with Lions. He has written about 20 books, out of which, World without End, his last book became the #1 seller in USA, Italy, Germany, France and Spain. Nora Roberts Nora Roberts has written more than 165 novels with over 280 million copies sold worldwide. She is one of America’s best-selling authors in the romance genre. Most of her books have been awarded with Quill Awards, RITA awards and Golden Medallion Awards. Her novels have been on NYT Bestselling list for combined 660 weeks. Paulo Coelho Paulo Coelho is a Brazilian novelist who writes Drama and Psychology. He always wanted to become a writer since his teenage. He started his writing career in 1982 with a book, Hell Archives, which did not make any impact on the readers. However, in 1987, he came up with The Alchemist, which became the Brazilian Bestseller and made a Guinness World Record for the most translated book as it was translated in more than 67 languages. In total, he has written 26 books. Stephanie Meyer The Twilight Series, who does know about it? Stephanie Meyer, a young American novelist wrote “Twilight”. A story about an unlikely romance between a human girl and a vampire, the book was published in 2005 and earned the #5 position on the New York Times Best Selling list. After the Twilight success, Meyer came up with the three sequels, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. Her new book: The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner is the latest release.
