Chillibreeze Encounters the World's Hottest Chili: Bhut Jolokia

The photo is of a Bhut Jolokia that was purchased in the market in Shillong India. My mom sent me a clipping from the Chicago Tribune about this Chilli so I did some research. I found it in the market in Shillong. The article says it comes from Changpool Assam but others have told me it is also grown in Meghalaya near the border with Bangladesh.

The previous record was the Red Savina Habanero at 580,000 Scoville units. Can you imagine that the Bhut Jolokia chili measures more than 1 million Schoville units! Tabasco sauce is only 5000 Scoville units.

I touched a small sliver to my tongue and it burned. Then later I touch my nose and it burned for at least an hour.

Worlds hottest chilli
